It has been a few days since I have posted last. It was not intentional, at all. My grandmother (Emmie Simon / Big Momma) passed away last Friday, February 10, 2012. She was 89 years old, and I have so many fond memories of her and who she was. Her and my granddad (Bernice Simon / Big Daddy), were the two of the most loving grandparents and always treated my siblings and I so wonderfully. Some memories I have of her is the chocolate pie she would make. It was just so creamy and yummy. She also made her own syrup. It was clear and tasted so sweet. It is funny, how I can still taste the flavors. I just wish I could cook period.
I am so blessed to have had all 4 of my grandparents with me for so long. They have all shaped me into the person I am today and for that, all I can say is “Thank You” to all of them.
While I was in Cushing, Texas for the “Homegoing” on yesterday, I took a few pictures of the house and community that my grandparents (my dad’s parents) live in for years. It is such a small community, that the only way to get there is by looking for certain landmarks.
This is the home (below) that I remember during the summer visits to my grandparents house. There were so many trees along with so much thick sand that you could hardly walk. As a kid, this was fun! Now the sand and the trees have gone. Time does that, I think.
The second picture is of the road that leads to the small church in the woods. The third picture is where the barn used to stand.
The plan is to make a trip to Massey Lake, Texas and get photos of the community where my mom grew up with my grand parents.
Lot’s of memories, either way. :o)
On a great note: I have lost 15 pounds thus far (since January 1, 2012). Weight Watchers is making me aware of what I eat and how much I eat. Perhaps the fact that the two teeth I got filled are giving me issues, and I hope that the adjustments needed, will be done by tomorrow. Funny thing is that I have gone back two times since the teeth were filled almost two weeks ago. One time for my chipped tooth, and the other for an adjustment to the fillings. I left there last Thursday and the pain was still there (Bummer). I just pray it gets fixed. The other side was the same way after I had that tooth filled. Had to go back three times before it did not hurt as much. Problem is, it still hurts when I chew as well. Oh well, it will be fixed, I have to have faith.
