As I prepare for our 10th plus trip to Disney (including
Disneyland, Disney world, Disney Cruise), I begin to think about all of the
prepping that goes into each and every trip we take. I am sure that it is not
necessary to do this, but for some reason, the planning is the fun part that
leads to the ultimate fun part :o).

This year we are taking a different spin on our journey and
will be driving to Florida (with some stops in between). This requires a
different type of planning on my part.

I want to share three special tips that I have used over the
years that work perfectly. Again, these work for us, and is certainly not indicative of the vast array of tips out there that work for others. :o)

- Buy large Ziploc bags. Those are used to pack
the kids clothes in. You can use one bag per outfit (including the socks, and
undies). This makes it easier to just pull out one outfit without surfing
through the ocean of clothing packed in your luggage. I learned of this when my
daughter (now age 9) was about a year old. Now that she is bigger, the amount
of clothing that goes into each is a bit less. However, I still have my 3 year
old, so it still applies. - Each vacation, I like to plan something for the
kids to do to keep them occupied, while traveling. Unfortunately, we normally
fly, so the kids immediately fall asleep as soon as the plane is in the air (I
think they got it from their dad). Nonetheless, I still plan accordingly by
purchasing coloring books, and small activities from the $1 section in Target.
This year, the plan is important because we are driving to our destination, so
I doubt that sleeping will happen in the same way. The plan is to create a journal for them to
stay occupied with. This in addition to the Nintendo DS, and DVD movies.
Luckily, they are awesome to travel with, so that will help. - Follow the budget in place. This is so important
and with proper research, you should stay within budget. Each vacation we have
taken, we have not gone over the budget, however, that could be because I am
just a whiz at budgeting or I over budget and it just look that way. I am
guessing the second one LOL :o). Either way, having an idea of what you will
spend will eliminate the issues of the money crunch when you return home.
There are so many different tips that work for everyone. I
think that it is just a matter of finding what works for the individual family.

Hello Raquel Cummings, I am smiling after going through your whole blog. Generally children's have tendency to sleep in journey even my kids also slept down while we are in air. Of course financial planning for any vacation is the key feature. Don't bring lots of valuable things, more you have valuable stuff greater chance of losing them or stolen.
