Family Time Giveaway!

October 1, 2012 by Raquel 7 Comments

This past
weekend, I participated in a Run event (more on this later) and not having
family there to cheer me on was somewhat sad. It made me realize how important
family presence is in my life.

For my
family, “family time” is important. I admit that we do not have much
time together during the week, because of school, work, soccer practices (and
the list goes on).  Each Friday, we set aside time to spend together, even
if it is in front of the TV, eating pizza and popcorn. My kids are ages and 4,
so for us it is pretty easy :-).
Because I
am a working mom, my time is limited (during the week), so when I cook, it has to
be easy and taste good. Tonight, for example, I tried the Hidden Valley
Ranch recipe for Out of this World Pasta Salad. I made a few changes and
did not include the broccoli, “optional” olives, and wagon wheel pasta.  I did add in some imitation crab meat to give it additional color. I love that the recipe
was quick, easy and tasted great! I was finished within 20 minutes and was able
to make it to my daughter’s soccer practice.

To honor
Family Time, I have teamed up with Hidden Valley to do a giveaway!!!! This is
great, because it contains everything a family needs to have a fun family
night!  There will be 3 winners.
The packet includes the following:

Oh my goodness, family time in my home is a must. As a single mom, I do not have a lot of time to spare. However, my children love our movie night every Friday! It is a way for us to bond and reconnect from the busy week. I hope I win this as I would love to add this to our weekly gatherings.

We hold family at a premium in our house! We try to keep Fridays and Saturdays just for us and the kids, and we do things we like to do together on those days: watch a movie, shop, run errands, go to the video game store, etc. anything to have hang time!

For family night which is usually sunday, we usually have a big dinner my dad cooking or grilling the protein. My sister and I chose a recipes to make for side dishes (family favorite is rosemary potatoes). Then we make a cake towards the end of the meal. Then we all sit down as a family and rent a movie for the dvr or watch the lastest movie that has come out in stores.Sometimes we end the night in a game of monopoly (which usually never ends) or Jenga which is always fun for my younger sibilings its always fun.

Family time is every night! Gathering around the dinner table with no distractions. No cell phones, no time, just us:)

Cold weather make me want comfort foood, homemade soups, etc. Love to cook for my family and enjoy a good glass of wine together. And yes, my kids are of age!

For the Roy family we always share as much time as we can. I would say that the weekends are our family time. Every Friday we sit down to a fun meal and watch Grimm together. Then on Saturdays we go to Kayalas soccer games, afterward we usually go to IHOP. Sundays we do the "Roy family Walk" or we will just hang out together. I mean all thetime is family time because it is the most important thing. Family comes first!
