Disney, Travel Our Harambe Nights at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park Experience February 12, 2015

This is long overdue :o).  My family and I had the pleasure of experiencing Harambe Nights (The Lion King: Concert in the Wild) at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, June 14, 2014. Our storyteller was Avery Brooks of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine fame and let me say that he was phenomenal! It wasn’t just his voice but the way he enunciated and gave life to the words. We arrived at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park about 3:30 PM, and were given rain ponchos because it was raining pretty heavy. We proceeded to the parking lot and made our way to the entrance, and once we were granted admission, we were able to snag a ride on Expedition Everest, Dinosaur and Kilimanjaro Safari while we waited. SCORE!

When the time arrived, we lined up to enter the Harambe Nights venue space and let me tell you that it was amazing. They had food stations set up everywhere and there were virtually no lines to access the yummy goodies they had waiting for us. My family and I ate and loved everything that we had on our plate during this appetizer phase of the evening. We entered the Harambe Theatre and had an awesome view, in my opinion. Once we were seated we were presented with more delectable treats to graze over during the show. The show itself was perfect and because both of my children (ages 6 &11 at the time), remained quiet and attentive, I knew it as a winner. The music was spectacular and to us it sounded like the perfect 4-D presentation that perfectly complimented the story of the Lion King.
During the performance, we heard the thunder that was occurring outside, but no fear Disney had that covered and I mean covered. We had to wait inside the Harmbe Theatre less than 10 minutes while they set up, but it was worth it. Some of the restaurants were open to accommodate everyone inside and the food just got better from there. There was music, dancing and a visit from some of the characters.
As you can see, my son had to get in a dance with the dancers at the Harambe Nights Street Party, of course :o)

As we left, we encountered a treat, the Tree of Life was lit up with blue lights and there were characters waving good bye. (My picture is a bit blurry, but you get the picture). It was the perfect end to a perfect night.

Hopefully, they will offer this event in the future, and if they do we are so there! It was definitely a great event for the entire family.

Until Next Time!

How nice for them to give everyone rain poncho's! It looks like y'all had a fabulous time! Great pictures. Disney is just so much fun and there are so many different things to do. I didn't know about Harambe Nights, glad you shared.

I do hope they offer Harambe Nights again. I love when Disney does special events like this. It's a fun way to add magic to your trip.

We went to the Animal Kingdom last summer too, but we didn't catch any of the shows. Next, time we go to Disney World I want to spend a whole day at the Animal Kingdom so we have time to see everything. It looks like your kids have fun meeting Goofy 🙂
