Back-To-School For Educators – How To Maximize Those Last Few Days of Rest!

August 6, 2016 by Raquel Leave a Comment

Can you hear it? You can’t? I sure can. It is the school bell ringing in the distance (like a week of distance, for me).

As an educator, it is not a pleasant sound, especially when you have been on “hiatus” for the last two months and have gotten used to the new routine (relaxing). But alas, the school year is coming and nevertheless, it is here and time for me to return to work and greet another school year of students.

As an educator, I am excited about the school year, however, I have 3 ways to maximize those last few days of freedom.
1. When friends or family text you about school related subjects, immediately delete the text without reading it. I know what you are thinking, “that is mean”. No, not really. You delete the text and then you respond to the person and change the subject. See? (Ha!)

2. Avoid social media as much as possible. Why? Because news feeds are filled with Back-To-School information, and you want to hold off as long as you can, right?. There is an exception… when friends post about their children’s first day, go ahead and respond because those pictures are great. Still reminds you of school, but make the exception.

3. Place a chair in front of your television so that you can watch all those DVR’d shows on your DVR that have not been watched all summer (while you were off). At this point, the days are few to get this in. Sitting closer to the television helps one to avoid having to wear glasses (not me, but a “friend”). Also, with the DVR, you can fast-forward through all those Back-To-School commercials you have been avoiding.

Seriously, I am happy about the possibilities of the new school year. I not only get to see my own children grow, but I get to see the students I interact with grow as well. That makes getting the school year started worth it. I have lots to do with meal planning, homework and extracurricular activities for my children, but I would not have it any other way. Happy Back To School Educators!!!

Still not ready! Just sayin’. (haha)

Until Next Time!
