DIY Red Angry Bird Blanket & Family Movie Night Snacks!

Who has seen The Angry Birds movie? Our recent family night included snuggling up with a fun blanket and munching on a tasty snack with red juice to wash it down with. We had so much fun and with it being that time of year that the schedule gets busy, it was nice to have a family bonding night watching The Angry Birds movie.
We like to stay entertained during our family nights and Walmart Family Mobile PLUS Plan can help with that. The Walmart Family Mobile PLUS Plan gives you unlimited Talk, Text, and Data for $49.88 per month. I purchased the Coolpad Catalyst for **$59.88. My out of pocket was really low compared to other prepaid carriers – only $19.88 to get started. The Walmart Family Mobile Plan includes up to 10GB of 4G LTE plus you get a free movie on VUDU every month ($7 value) per line.
With the extra data this plan offers, not only will we be able to enjoy a variety of movies as a family each month but I will be able to keep in touch with my daughter. I worry that some places may not have wifi access, but with the available data we can stay in touch, if we need to.

By the way, did you know that you can stream your free VUDU movie using your SmartTV, ROKU, or Chromecast. We used our Chromecast for our family movie night.

I love that our local Walmart had everything I needed to make our family night a success and to top it off, I saved money all around. To find the Walmart Family Mobile Plan section, just head to the electronics section of your local Walmart store.

Before heading to your local Walmart, be sure to visit the Walmart Family Mobile Hub to find out where the nearest In-Store Mobile Family Event Table is taking place and the in-store rep will be available to answer any questions you may have. While you are enjoying the festivities, you can can scan the Angry Birds Display to access an augmented reality selfie experience with hatchling. Also, the event will have a code that you can scan to receive a free power up for the Endless Runner Game on the Angry Birds Action. How fun does that sound?

Wait, I mentioned The Angry Birds Movie earlier! I have to share with you what our family night consisted of. Our favorite Angry Bird of all time is Red. So, in honor of Red, we had a red themed movie night that included a DIY Red Angry Bird Blanket (will discuss that next), red candy coated pretzel snacks, and a red drink.

First, I want to quickly discuss our red themed snack. It was candy coated pretzels. They are a quick and easy snack and doesn’t require many ingredients and effort. All you will need is pretzels (you choose your favorite), candy coating, and parchment paper.

Step 1: Roll out Parchment Paper, Step 2: Melt candy in the microwave (be sure to check and stir often to avoid  burning), Step 3: Stir the melted candy to get the consistency you desire, Step 4: Dip pretzel into the melted candy (I dip just one side), Step 5: Place coated pretzel on the parchment paper to dry.

We snuggled up with our very own Red Angry Bird blanket, which is a circular blanket made of fleece with the facial features of Red made from felt. This is a no-sew blanket, and if you are anything like me, you are short on time these days.

WHAT SUPPLIES WILL I NEED?:
* 2 yards of red fleece material  (I used the Anti-Pill Fleece)
* Sheets of Felt (Black, Yellow, White, Orange)
* Fabric Glue
* Scissors

HOW DO I MAKE IT?:

Step 1: Sketch, Trace and Cut the facial features of the Red Angry Bird using the felt.

Step 2: Fold the 2 yards of fleece in half, and get a visual of where you will need to cut your half circle. I used a yard stick and measuring tape to help.
Step 3: Cut out a half circle (once it is unfolded, it will be a full circle).
Step 4: Position felt pieces onto the blanket and glue the pieces in place. The fabric glue I used bonds really quickly, so I had to be sure of where I wanted it placed.
Step 5: Completed Blanket
After it was all said and done, we collected our snacks and gathered in front of the television and enjoyed our movie night together.

How often do you enjoy a family movie night?

Until Next Time!

    What a cute blanket! This would be so much fun to make before watching the movie. [client]
