Uncategorized The Recent Presidential Election…. My Thoughts November 9, 2016

This is something I have to get off of my chest about the
recent presidential election (11/8/2016). I have always been taught that when
people show you who they are, believe them.
It doesn’t matter my reasons for voting one way or the
other, but I voted for the candidate that (I felt) matched my beliefs and
morals. I have to share this…. I work in a school and we held a mock elections.
When the winner was announced, the entire building shook from all of the cheers
and excitement. It made me so excited, not because of the winner, but because
the kids were so passionate about why they voted the way that they did.
When I woke up this morning, I heard the news about the
new President of the United States. I was shocked and disappointed, because as
I said at the start of this, “when people show you who they are, believe them”.
I only hope that, it was all just talk, and they will show us something greater
than what has been shown.
My candidate did not win, but I commend her for the campaign
she ran. As a woman, and mother to a teenage daughter, it would have been a
pleasure to see history being made, but that is not what happened and I have to
respect the process. She showed me that women “ROCK”, and they are strong,
passionate and can hang with the “big boys” (of course, I already knew this).
Kudos to Secretary Clinton!
It is my prayer that my family and friends (of all ethnic
backgrounds, religions, and sexual orientation) never have to face any of the
negativity that we were led to believe could happen. We have 4 years to see
what happens.
My daughter will be old enough to vote in the 2020
elections, and she is and will be a strong black woman who will vote her hearts
Until Next Time!
