Counter tops, sinks, faucets and Thumbtack – Oh My!! The kitchen remodel is going well, however, it’s in the stall phase at the moment. Don’t get me wrong, we have made some progress. The counter tops, sink, faucet and appliances have been installed, so we are almost there.
In the previous post, I shared with you that we purchased our new Whirlpool appliances from Nebraska Furniture and we were able to purchase the granite counter tops from Seconds and Surplus. To be honest, it’s not quite what I had in mind, but we are happy with everything so far.
To have the counter tops installed, I used Thumbtack.com to find a contractor. It takes you through a quick series of questions to understand your needs. Soon, you will receive a list of contractors that fit your needs and they provide a bid of how much the work could cost. From there, you contact the contractors you are interested in and go from there. Thankfully, the contractor we chose did a great job. He was quick and efficient and we could not ask for more in the way of the services he provided.
He arrived on a Friday to do the demolition (Yikes, I was not ready). Notice the old appliances and walls. Saturday he returned with two additional workers. The entire job took about four hours to complete and to top it off, he threw in the sink we had been eyeing for no additional costs!!
I would recommend him to anyone needing that type of work done in the area. Kudos to him and his team!
There is still some work that needs to be completed to the back splash (can’t decide on a design). We actually chose a great subway tile, but the height did not work. Other than that and some additional odds and ends, we will be ready for the big reveal soon. But we will discuss that in a soon-to-be future post.
If you have any back splash design ideas, please feel free to share with me. We are on a budget, so any and all ideas are welcome.
Until Next Time!
