Entertainment Max 2: White House Hero – Interview With Cast! May 20, 2017

Thanks to Warner Bros. for giving me early access to the film and access to the cast. The opinions I share are my own.

Man’s Best Friend Is The Country’s Biggest Hero, MAX 2: White House Hero!

Don’t you just love a feel-good movie?  Scratch that… Don’t you love a feel-good movie that include dogs?  I know that we do. Max 2: White House Hero is one of those movies and it is a perfect family-time movie.

“Max 2 stars Zane Austin (Unremarkable), Francesca Capaldi (Dog With A Blog, The Peanuts Movie), Carrie Genzel (Watchmen), and Lochlyn Munro (White Chicks), Max 2: White House Hero is an uplifting film about family, friendship, and a four-legged hero.” “Duty calls again, and our hero dog Max returns to action in “Max 2: White House Hero.” His new assignment brings him to Washington, D.C. to serve on the U.S. president’s Secret Service detail. When a foreign leader arrives with his precocious daughter Alex (Francesca Capaldi), tensions arise between both countries. First Son TJ (Zane Austin), along with Max and Alex, uncover a dangerous plot that puts both kids and both nations in jeopardy. A highly-sensitive mission will push Max’s specialized skills, intelligence and loyalty to the test.”

I had the pleasure of interviewing Zane Austin and Francesca Capladi, the child stars of the movie, via a conference call. Both children were a joy to talk to and I was amazed at how experienced they were. They were able to share some insights about the movie, their roles and of course Max.

First, let’s talk about Max, the real star of the movie. In my head, there was only one Max and he was super talented. Guess what? There was not 1 Max or 2, but there were 4! Two of the dogs (Dude and Jagger) did a lot of the stunts while Pax did action shots and did the swimming. Then there was Carlos who is the face of the movie. How cool is that?

I was excited to interview Zane and Francesca and I just had to find out the answers to the burning questions I had while  watching the movie.

Question: I am sure you had to spend a lot of time with “Max”. Did you go through any special training sessions to get Max to respond to you?

  • Zane: I met them before the movie started in LA. I had to work with 4 dog trainers to get the dogs used to me and my voice.
  • Francesca: Yes, as the movie was starting, we went to a warehouse. We trained with the dogs and got them used to us so that they would not be surprised when filming started.

During the audition process, did you interact with Max?

  • Zane: We didn’t work with any of the dogs, but it would have been cool to.
  • Francesca: No

Was this movie the first where you had to work with animals?

  • Zane: Yes, it was.
  • Francesca: Actually, I was on a Disney show for three years called Disney’s Dog With A Blog. There was a bunch of dogs on that. Most of the things I did, there are dogs (The Peanut Move and some commercials).

The All-New Original Movie Is Available on DVD, Blu-ray™ Combo Pack On May 23, 2017 & Digital HD On May 9, 2017. The film runs 80 minutes and is also filled with 15 minutes of extra treats including a behind-the-scenes featurette, “Kids on the Case: Making of Max 2,” and a canine blooper reel, “Max 2: A Ruff Life.” MAX 2: White House Hero will be priced to own on DVD at $19.98 SRP and on Blu-ray including Digital HD at $24.98 SRP. Take a look at the trailer!

I would definitely recommend this fun movie for your family. It is a movie that all ages will love and watch to watch over and over.

Before I end this, I have to talk a bit our own little hero! Her name is Numberly and she is a 2 year old Boston Terrier, who is so active and loving. She just seems to know when I haven’t had such a great day and will sit to me and just be, and that makes hero in my book.

Until Next Time!
