Entertainment They Are Family! The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. & Family Fun Night! (Review = No Spoilers) May 10, 2017

Friends, family, sacrifice, adventure. Those are the first words that come to mind when I think of the new Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2! From beginning to end, I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen and the fact that my favs are back?? Even better! We laughed so hard, I wondered who the writers were because those punchlines were delivered perfectly. The storyline was brilliant and easy to follow (trust me, that’s important for me). With so many twists, turns and surprises you won’t be disappointed.

“So We’re Saving the Galaxy Again”?

You betcha! The movie starts where they left off in Vol. 1. Peter Quill aka Star-Lord and the rest of the Guardians try to keep their new family structure together while Star-Lord figures out where he comes from. Yes, they brought back the mixtape (Awesome Mixtape #2) and the music choices are just as good as the first one.

The Guardians (We are Groot!)

The Guardians of the Galaxy are back along with the introduction of some new additions. I just want to say a bit about each character and I promise “no spoilers”.

  • Peter Quill – Absolutely amazing and hilarious.
  • Gamora – Two words… Bad Ass! Girl Power!
  • Nebula – Didn’t understand the dynamic of the Guardians, but she came around.
  • Drax – Hilarious and even more so than in the first one. He had the perfect one-liners and landed them at the right time.
  • Baby Groot – So stinking adorable. I just couldn’t get enough of him.
  • Rondu – Surprised me. He was even better in this volume of the movie.
  • Rocket –  My hero. Enough said!
  • Mantis – So happy she was introduced. She brought a dynamic that fit perfectly.
  • Ego – Very different from the character I imagined.  Wow!
  • Ayesha – The perfect golden villain
  • Taserface – Funny name, but great

Appropriate for kids?

Honestly, there are some swear words that are present and there are some  “comments” that might not have been child friendly. I did take my 8 year old son to see it and of course he loved it. He’s seen all of the Marvel movies and the amount of negative scenes were minimal (in my opinion). However, you might want to make a decision based on your individual children. It’s truly your choice.

So… Where Did We Experience The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2?

We enjoyed the movie at Cinemark Mansfield and saw it in XD. Whoa!! No words. You could truly “feel” the adventure and the sound and picture quality was precise. This was our first time in an XD theater and we will be back. I am a “slight” control freak, so I love being able to choose where I sit ahead of time and this theater was no different as it gave the choice. The theater had the nice plush comfy chairs that reclined as well. I had my old sweater. Covered up, lifted my feet and enjoyed the movie.

I highly recommend seeing the movie while in theater. 8 Thumbs Up!
