Not only am I delighted about the new year, I am probably much more fired up about the movies that will be released. What a lineup! Sadly, there are just too many to mention in this post, but I think the first half of my year is almost covered.
Black Panther – February 16, 2018
I do not think that you understand my excitement for this movie. (Well, you might if you read my previous Black Panther post about my initial excitement). I can tell how enthusiastic I am because I am trying to figure what we will wear for the imminent photoshoot that must take place outside of the theater in front of the Black Panther marquee. Oh, is that not normal? The plan is to devote a whole day to celebrate the release and see this movie, without disruption. It will be so hard to not blog about what I experience, but I will find a way to do so without giving away too many details. I Promise!
After what happened to his father in Captain American: Civil War, T’Challa returns to Wakanda as it’s new ruler. He will be put to the test and I can not wait to see how he and the rest of his nation handles it. I saw that the first cut of the film is “rumored” to be about 4 hours. I say if the rumor is true, I am here for ALL of it!!
A Wrinkle In Time – March 9, 2018
As a high school librarian, I have read this book as well as many of my students. When my children saw the trailer, they said, “Mom, we have to see this movie, we read that book”, to which I responded simply, “of course”. A Wrinkle In Time is directed by the super talented Ms. Ava DuVernay (One of my favorite TV shows is Queen Sugar, by the way). A Wrinkle In Time also stars some beautiful actors, Mindy Kaling (Mrs. Who), Reese Witherspoon (Mrs. Whatsit) and Oprah Winfrey (Mrs. Which). What a combination?
A Wrinkle inTime is a beautiful tale about Meg Murray and her brother, Charles who go in search of their father whom they haven’t seen in 5 years. Mr. Murry discovered a new planet and traveled there using a concept known as tesseract. From there, the adventure awaits them. I am amazed with the trailer and can not wait to be front and center opening weekend. Have you seen those motion posters released on their social media channels January 1, 2018? Go… take a look. Simply Stunning!
Avengers: Infinity War – May 4, 2018
Marvel will be taking the win for movie releases this year and the anticipation for this film is enough to get my family super stocked. We have seen every Marvel movie starting with Iron Man (yes, and the newest SpiderMan: Homecoming) so we are fully equipped to see this movie and and offer our opinions once it is over. There are so many Marvel super hero’s in this movie, I don’t know who I am most thrilled to see. Hmmm… Iron Man, Black Panther, Thor, Star-Lord and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Winter Solider, Iron Spider? See? Just way too many and that is not everyone. Heck, I can not wait to see Thanos. Yes, I said Thanos! The Avengers will unite to battle that mean old Thanos, who wants possession of the six Infinity Stones.
Dead Pool 2 – June 1, 2018
I have no idea how Ryan Reynolds was able to act in the original Deadpool, without cracking up. The things that came out of his mouth, made the first film hilarious and I can not wait to see what the new film will entail. Just looking at the movie poster, it’s going to be real sick and highly inappropriate. Bring on the new adventure!! Deadpool reminds me of that cousin that always has something to say about everything and blurts it out without thinking first. The thing is, you want that cousin around because they’ll say the things you really want to say and you are relieved that they said it. Aside from the trailer, I am not familiar with the exact plot, but I will be front and center regardless (sans kids – they can stay home).
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom- June 22, 2018
Owen Grady and Claire Dearing have gone back to the island Isla Nublar to save the other dinosaurs left on the island. I can not believe it’s been since 2015 since the first Jurassic World release. Heck, that new breed dinosaur they created in the first movie had me shaken, but now they’ll encounter more designer dinos? Oh boy! I have to see this. I will be sure to keep one eye open during those intense scenes.
I look forward to all that 2018 has to offer in movies. There are just too many to count and all I know is, I will have to include movie going in my monthly budget because every month there is something to look forward to. Let’s do this!
Until Next Time!
