I can only describe the roller coaster I have been on the
past couple months as surreal, and fantastic!!!
Let me start from the beginning. I began this process in
September, sending off my application after answering a few choice questions
regarding my preference. A few weeks later, I received an email inviting me to
the next phase of the application process, in which I answered more questions
and created a video about my most memorable memory. I was then contacted via
email, letting me know that I had advanced to the next phase of the process,
and letting me know when to complete my phone interview. After that interview
was completed (11/7), I expected an answer the following week, instead
something “magical” happened.

something “magical” happened.
I was at work (11/9) and noticed that my phone was ringing,
but I could not answer it because where I work has poor reception, so it would
not have done any good to answer. I cannot lie, I did wonder who it was because
it was just a strange call and the number was blocked. For a brief moment, I
did wonder if it was THE call, because someone on the message board had
mentioned that they got the “No” call. I thought it was a joke because no calls
(either way) were to go out until the next week.

I got off of work and
drove out of the parking lot, and the phone rang again at 4:17 PM CST. This
time I was able to answer the phone since the reception was better. I answered
the phone and the young lady on the other end said, “Hi Is the Raquel?” I said “yes,
this is she”. She gave her name and where she was calling from. I said, “Hello,
how are you doing?” She then said, I am fine and asked me how I was doing. I
replied, I am fine as well. She then said, Well, I hope that you will be
feeling better after I tell you that you were chosen as one of the newest members
of the 2013 Walt Disney World Moms Panel!!!” At this point, I was in disbelief.
I then said, “Shut-up!!”, and for some reason began laughing uncontrollably. I
could not stop laughing, it was like someone had turned on my giggle box and
would not turn it off. I am sure that she was thinking that I had lost my mind,
but she was gracious and so sweet, and understood my reaction. J . I have to admit that
some of the rest of the call was a blur, but I did manage to remember some of
the logistics she mentioned (i.e. training dates, etc).

I am beyond honored to have been chosen as one of the 2013 Walt
Disney World Moms Panelist, after 6 years of applying. I admit that I am still, somewhat, on a Pixie-Dusted
high, and I am not sure when I will be coming down 🙂 (or if I want to come down).

It is indeed “A Whole New World”!
